Let The Good Times Roll
It is always exciting and refreshing to get back up to Agimac River Outfitters for the new season to see our guests and do some fun fishing. As it has been in the states in May and June, it has been lots cooler here this year than last year.
When we first arrived May 8, we noticed that the water level was still about two feet low judging from the water marks on the big rocks in the rapids by our resort. Everything was dry and needing moisture. Then the rains began to come and it has not stopped. We've had a few warm days that hit the low 70's, but then it nose dives at night into the high 30's and low 40's which is quite cool for this time of year. Totally different from last year.
However, folks were still very happy with the fishing on lakes surrounding us as they are generally smaller and shallower than Indian. I went out fishing on Indian twice with Joanna the middle of May and couldn't even catch a Walleye. Of course other, better fishermen were getting enough to eat etc. But I was frustrated. Now just a couple of weeks ago, I was out fishing at my favorite spot on Indian, and just as the sun was setting over the distant tree tops, I began pulling in some mighty fine Walleyes, one after another. There's nothing like that feeling of the tap tap, jerk, then pole bends over and a beautiful Walleye is reeled up to the boat. :)
Even though Indian was slow to warm up, other lakes like Paguchi, Arethusa and Flat Rock were really putting out the Walleyes. One group from our camp who fishes Flat Rock every day said two of them in a boat alone caught 300 walleye that day. That's crazy. I've never caught fish so fast and furiously as that.
I wanted to let you see some of the fish that have been caught this year.
Some pretty impressive catches. And look at those women!! Some real beauties..... the fish too!
