A Visit From Friends
Renee sometimes accompanies her husband when he goes fishing in their big boat on Lake Superior, but after this trip she said it made her into a real fisherwoman. She loved the thrill of reeling in the swooping, diving, dancing, jumping Smallmouth Bass. They put up such a good fight with their muscular bodies. Glenn couldn't believe how big and thick our Bass are. They landed some 18 and 19 inchers.
One day I took them up to Arethusa Lake which is about 11 miles north of our resort. It was extremely windy, so very difficult to maneuver the boat. However, we did find a small island to fish behind where there was little wind and were able to bring in our limit of Walleye. We even endured a short deluge of rain and headed for shore to find shelter under some trees. Glenn is used to fishing in the rain, but Renee and I prefer fair weather. Even so, they were both so good natured and laughingly said it was a memorable adventure.
Just as we were drifting back toward the landing to leave the lake, my line became very taut. I was sure I was snagged on something and was just about to motor back to yank it free when it moved. Oh my goodness, it was a big fish and so much fun to reel in. We all waited with bated breath to see what it was. Of course it was a Northern Pike between 8 and 10 pounds. Glenn took a video and some pictures and we set him back in the water to live another day.
Glenn captured a beautiful sunset reflection of Agimac River Outfitters and a rainbow overhead.
This is the biggest fish Renee has ever caught. Quite exciting for her!!
