Congratulations Are In Order

 

 


We have some exciting news!!  Most of you know our daughter Joanna who has lived with us here at the resort since we bought it, helping us to run it.  We have so appreciated the years she has been able to be with us and I know everyone enjoys talking to her and even seeing her sled dogs.  Two years ago we made the decision to sell the dogs as John was the one who worked hard assisting her in feeding them, training them, clearing and maintaining trails and being her handler at the races.  It was time for him to retire though he has missed interacting with them just like Joanna.  

But there has been another interest in Joanna's life for the past three years and his name is Sven.  She met him in 2022 when she took a job at the Grand Marais Marathon gas station/convenience store.  Sven had been working there previously and when Joanna joined the staff, he immediately sought to get to know her.  It wasn't long before Joanna was drawn to this unique, fascinating, humorous man.  She found herself falling in love with him.  

In April 2025 while they were working together at the store, Sven quietly came up behind her, wrapped his arms around her and slipped an engagement ring on her finger, asking her to marry him.   We are so very happy for them both and the wedding date is set for November 8, 2025.

  It was Scott Fagerlin's first time visit to Agimac River Outfitters.  What a fun surprise to land a 44 inch Northern Pike in the boat!!  He packed it up and took it home to put on his wall.  Great job, Scott. Mark and his wife Jen come to Agimac River Outfitter's twice a year and often fill 3 cabins with family and friends.  They offered to take me out fishing with them this week and look what Mark caught... a 28 inch Walleye.  I believe he said it was his biggest one yet.  It was so fun to watch him wrestle with his bent over pole and try to reel that monster in.  Of course Mr. Walleye went back in the lake to catch another time.

Let The Good Times Roll

 It is always exciting and refreshing to get back up to Agimac River Outfitters for the new season to see our guests and do some fun fishing.  As it has been in the states in May and June, it has been lots cooler here this year than last year.   When we first arrived May 8, we noticed that the water level was still about two feet low judging from the water marks on the big rocks in the rapids by our resort.  Everything was dry and needing moisture.  Then the rains began to come and it has not stopped.  We've had a few warm days that hit the low 70's, but then it nose dives at night into the high 30's and low 40's which is quite cool for this time of year.  Totally different from last year. However, folks were still very happy with the fishing on lakes surrounding us as they are generally smaller and shallower than Indian.  I went out fishing on Indian twice with Joanna the middle of May and couldn't even catch a Walleye.  Of course other...

Friends Forever

 There are times in your life when you get to know people who are kindred spirits and will be friends forever.  The Henderson family are just such people.  Steve is the guitar player and lead worship leader at our wonderful church, Dryden Full Gospel in Dryden, Ontario.  It takes us about 2 hours to drive there when we are able to attend on a Sunday morning.  His wife, Kellie is the keyboard player and does an exceptional job.  Their entire family are musicians including Kim, Kellie's identical twin who plays the bass guitar and Steve and Kellie's children.  Tanner plays guitar and drums and sings very well.  Danielle plays keyboard and piano and Jessie plays piano too.  I have had the blessing of playing my cello with their team on Sunday mornings during the worship time.   Joanna too has joined the team as a singer.  I can honestly say that I have experienced some of the most amazing times in God's presence ever while playing...
